Possible bad dump (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban PC)

Post by George »

The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Norway) (En,No,Da) release seems to be either a bad dump or the data on the disc was corrupted during mastering. It is identical to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Denmark) (En,No,Da) except the main zip file used for the installer is corrupt, specifically `sounds\soundeffects.uax` fails the zip CRC verification (with both WinRAR and 7-Zip).

All Harry Potter games (or, possibly, all EA games) contain a region-unique string, presumably to identify the region for registration or patch distribution. In case of Prisoner of Azkaban that string is in the `System\kwGame.u` file, which is located on the disc, outside of the zip file, unpack, and is a full match between these 2 dumps, which means these releases should be identical. The only file different is the zip file. The zip file in the Danish release can be extracted just fine, and the installer shows no issues.

As expected, the installer complains about the very same file, when trying to install the game:

Thank you - I'm looking into this potential issue at the moment.

After dumping the disc again I have verified that my disc does indeed match https://redump.info/disc/89598/. I have provided the mods with logs of the new dump.
