Password reset "succeeds", but won't let me log in with new password

The "Guest email" field on this post is the same one I used to register my forum account.

Immediately after I created the account, I tried to log in and got this:

> Warning! The following errors must be corrected before you can login:
> Incorrect username and/or password.

When I request a password reset, I get an email with a link that allows me to change my password. Submitting that form succeeds, but when I go to log in with the new password I just set, I still get the same error.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
