Site chat

Post by RiMMER »

Hey there, everybody !

What about implementing a redump site chat? I don't mean any java/irc/whatever shit which don't work
for 90% of people and is actually more annoying than useful.

I mean some good, html/php based, between-2-people only (like icq) chat.

I would be willing to code one for this community if it was asked for and appreciated Image

Think about it !

Do you want a redump-site chat working between 2 people?

Our IRC chan is crowded enough (~35 people average) and works well enough imo.

Maybe a chat applet that lets people connect to the IRC chat via the website? Image

That exists already, but only in Java form as far as I know. And I am not sure whether anyone has Java installed. I don't. I hate Java Image

Even if you don't want to use a Java web-based IRC client, there are CGI based ones you could try.  They don't need to be embedded into redump.org to use, for example you could use mibbit (or any other one), just go to

Location: http://www.mibbit.com/chat/
Hit the "Server" button and type in "replica.foreverchat.net"
In "Channel" type in "#redump"
Type in a nick and hit "Connect".  You'll be in be in the IRC channel.

What about tinychat?  They use it on emumovies.com and I like it.  You can even do video and voice chat over it.  I think you can even show off you desktop too.  So it might help when helping newbies because you can view their desktop while they are dumping and tell them what they are doing wrong.
