Announcement: Official move to redump.info!

As many of you are aware, there have been longstanding issues with the redump.org site infrastructure. Basic features such as HTTPS have been missing and the project staff have been unable to address this due to the site being tightly controlled by an inactive administrator.

This has become increasingly untenable over the course of the past year, with major site outages and issues causing real concern that data could be permanently lost. Staff have made multiple attempts over several years to contact the redump.org admin to ask for these issues to be addressed, but all of these efforts have been either rebuffed or outright ignored. We believe that the work done here at Redump is very important for long-term preservation of data, which has necessitated this shift to ensure the project is successful for many years to come.

As a result, this year we decided to take the initiative and move to a new site, giving us a more solid and modern codebase to work from, and a more collaborative governance structure ensuring that major site decisions cannot be locked behind the availability of any single member of the team.

That site is now live at https://redump.info/ and as of today will be the official home of the Redump project. All of the existing data has been imported over and you may notice a number of immediate improvements, as well as some key changes to submission processes.

We have a Getting Started Guide on the wiki at (https://wiki.redump.info/Getting_Started_Guide) to answer some of your immediate questions and help you get started on submitting to the new site.

The Redump staff would like to thank all of you for your patience as we've worked through this process, and over the past few years in dealing with the difficulties presented by the old site. We ask for your continued patience as we get up and running, as it will take everyone some time to get fully up to speed. In particular, for the moment we ask that you keep a note of any feature requests you might have. We will soon be announcing an official process for submitting these, and we have many ideas of our own, but for now our focus is on making this transition as seamless as possible.

This marks an exciting new day for the Redump project and we're happy to have such an amazing community of contributors to this vital work. We look forward to you joining us in continuing that work as we move to this next stage in the project.

**How to log in / register for the new site**
1) if you already have an account on redump.org, go to https://forum.redump.info/, click Login and click "I forgot my password", follow the instructions.
2) if you are a new contributor, feel free to register new account at https://forum.redump.info/.

The new site has none of the old restrictions regarding email providers, however initially you may find messages being marked as spam, so please make sure to check your spam/junk folders as well. Congratulations on finally getting Redump the maintenance it has long deserved!

I'm one of the maintainers for the RPCS3 project, I've been maintaining and updating its web services for over 10 years, let us know if you need any help. RPCS3 fully endorses the updated Redump and all of its contributors as key pieces in disc format content documentation and preservation. We can offer a data mirror, for example, as our web server has a lot of available headroom.

Is there any roadmap for feature parity with the old site?

I'm particularly interested in Downloads accepting extra parameters for dat files (e.g. https://redump.info/datfile/PS3/serial,version) and disc key access.

Home sweet home. Although I would have preferred if the old domain could have been kept, but I guess that is tightly controlled by iR0b0t. I appreciate what he did over the years but with his lack of involvement it was high time to step down or give more control to others.

My notes for the future feature request thread / form:

• Disc verification form
• API for submissions and verifications
• Publicly available dump of all disc data (maybe as a torrent updated monthly) This would finally properly aid the preservation goal without needing individual to scrape everything to ensure that it won't get lost.
• Additional fields for all Volume Identifiers which then get hidden when appropriate (but record everything)
• Two-factor authentication with at least TOTP and preferably also U2F
• More modern hashes in addition to the old ones (e. g. I personally use CRC32, MD5, SHA1, BLAKE2b-512, BLAKE2s-256, SHA2-256, SHA2-384, SHA2-512, SHA2-512/224, SHA2-512/256 and SHA3-512.) I just hash them all at the same time so the additional processing time is negligible.
  I'd at least like to see both BLAKE variants, SHA2-512 and SHA3-512 to have some future proofing

To answer some of the initial questions:

We are still working on features, and have many in progress. This is not the "finished" product and we have many things we are working on as we speak.

* Verifications are submitted just like new discs. You go to add a disc, just like a new disc, and if the hashes match something in the database, the site will identify it as a verification. No more submitting through the forum.

* We are working on adding more proper database fields. For now we have legacy data in comments, but we will slowly be adding more proper fields and moving data over - this will just take some time.

* We would have preferred to keep .org but had literally no choice.

There are many features and updates still in progress - for right now, we need to focus on stability and helping new users to establish their accounts and learn the new system. We'll share more information about features and roadmap as soon as we can. For now, please bear with us as we get stabilized. Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding!

A lower priority item to be sure, but will there be an update to Redumper to change the lookup step of a dump to use this site's database for determining if there is an existing dump for initial !submissioninfo.txt fillout (as well as other verification tasks at that step of the dumping process)? Would there possibly be a fork of Redumper as a result of the "split" from the original site, or would it just continue on in it's current form?
