Missing dumps

Post by Steven Brown »

I've had a look at my collection of PSX games, and have the following which I believe you need dumps of:-

Magic Carpet
Syndicate Wars
Galaga: Destination Earth
Speedball 2010
The Raiden Project

I've downloaded the tools needed, so I'll have a bash tonight at dumping them.

I've dumped Raiden Project which has a single data track to an .ISO file... Just checking the other disks now.

Please remember to follow the PSX CD dumping guide.  I believe if you had followed step by step, ISObuster should've dumped a .bin track instead of an .iso file.  Even though they are exactly the same, by you saying you dumped it to an .iso file gives me the impression you did not go through the dumping guide.

Please let us know if you have any questions about the procedure.  Image

I have gone through the guide, the guide does say
"Right mouse button on Track 01 -> Extract Track 01 -> Extract RAW Data (2352 bytes/block) (*.bin, *.iso);"

and IsoBuster created the .iso file.  I've checked IsoBuster and changed the option so it defaults to naming files .bin instead of .iso. I'm assuming the process is the same regardless?

I've been running some tests using Tekken 3, which has a pregap of 1.68 seconds for the 1st audio track (track 2). I've calculated the number of bytes to remove using the resize tool, however I'm at a loss as to how you calculate the number of sectors the pregap takes up.

In the guide it says that 1 second equals 75 sectors, and a pregap of 1.74 seconds equals 149 sectors. How is that worked out and what would be the number of sectors for a pregap of 1.68 seconds?

YES YOU CAN  Image
but it doesnt matter, more important is to extract it in 2352 RAW (like you did)

Please remember that PSX games/discs have usual (in 99%) 2:00 pregaps, if your drive detects them different then you should try an other detection method A/B/C, or try an other drive, or speed down the drive.

For each 0:01 one sector less, for 1:68 it would be (75-68=7) 150-7=143, but it is not correct in this case because tekken has 2:00 pregap.
PX-760A (+30), PX-W4824TA (+98), GSA-H42L (+667), GDR-8164B (+102), SH-D162D (+6), SOHD-167T (+12)

Yep, using a different drive for my test with Tekken 3 and it's reporting a pregap of 2 seconds...
