What are these "[T:???]" tags on submissions?

There is some people that submit with "tags" like [T:VOL], [T:EAID], [T:ISBN], [T:PD], [T:V], [T:X]. What are those, which tag should I use in which case while submitting and why those tags are used in the first place instead of passing the info without it?
