Naming: demo games

if no-intro naming rules are being followed, shouldn't demo discs be done like this?:
Game Name (Demo)

rather than

Game Name (Europe) (Demo Version)
or
Game Name (Europe) (Trial Edition)
or
Game Name (Europe) (Taikenban)
or
Game Name Demo (Europe)
etc

i.e. ignoring whatever way the on-disc/on-box text calls the demo, and just giving it the generic label "demo"

and optionally an extra "kiosk" label, like no-intro does.
e.g. Game Name (Demo) (Kiosk)

or maybe Game Name (Kiosk Demo) or Game Name (Demo, Kiosk) instead

/viewtopic.php?p=9350#p9350 -- yes, just nobody cares. I always use the (Demo) tag. The only doubtful case is when the edition presents even on the title screen.

Can normal Dumpers edit that sort of data? When/if I get access to the database I would be happy to rename demos, if such an action was approved by whoever needs to approve that sort of thing.

Nope, only mods and admins. iR0b0t could probably do it via some SQL selects, though.

It's easy to show all the filenames: https://redump.info/list/miss/Jackal/

235 Taikenban

(Demo Taikenban) ??

It looks like iR0b0t added (Demo 1), (Demo 2) etc to some games.. yuk..

On No-Intro, demos are basically split up into (Demo) and (Demo) (Kiosk).
I've never seen any labelled with numbers, but kiosk demos used at trade shows were labelled with the first trade show (e.g. (Demo) (Kiosk) (E3 2005) they were (first) used at, to differentiate with (Demo) (Kiosk) which is used for store kiosk demos.

I think its important to make a distinction between demos that are sold/given to consumers, and kiosk demos.

I've never seen a demo labelled with a number on No-Intro or Redump. @Jackal could post links for some?

That looks atrocious. Not sure where it first surfaced would even matter, date serves the same purpose.

What date? "2005"? There may be more than one 2005 demo for all we know.

You should be able to see this link? https://redump.info/list/miss/Jackal/

Then just search within the page for (Demo  <- with a space
