I tested your program and it works great for the games I tested. I found some games where it couldn't detect the protection.
Here are the games:
Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke (Japan)
Saru! Get You! (Japan) (v1.0), (v1.1), (Demo)

Did not get anti-mod screen on PSX1.13 for Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke (Japan)
Did get it for Saru! Get You! (Japan) (v1.0), (v1.1), (Demo)
I used command line version and program did detect the function in the Saru! games.

The first one is tricky. The mod screen shows up after you start a new game and finish the beginning dialog, which takes a few minutes. Another slow one is "Disney's The Emperor's New Groove (USA)", the tool detects this one.

Enker: That was the longest time to anti-mod screen I have ever seen for Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke (Japan)!
You do all the setup and boom!
Thanks to Led Zep for this tool. Hopefully we can add these other games to the tool so they are recognized.

I have updated the tool.
i think you recognize this pictures
red ring is a picture, but text is a text, now utillity will search for it too
jap game have only jap "notice", usa have both
but there are games whose data is compressed, there is no chance to find anything by simple searching
only to run game on the emulator, dump the memory or use artmoney and search
usa string
Code: Select all
20 20 20 20 20 53 4F 46 54 57 41 52 45 20 54 45 52 4D 49 4E 41 54 45 44 0A 43 4F 4E 53 4F 4C 45 20 4D 41 59 20 48 41 56 45 20 42 45 45 4E 20 4D 4F 44 49 46 49 45 44 0A 20 20 20 20 20 43 41 4C 4C 20 31 2D 38 38 38 2D 37 38 30 2D 37 36 39 30
jap string
Code: Select all

Thanks for the update! Version 2 works for those Japan games, but I think the text search is giving a false positive for MediEvil II (USA). I tested it for a while and I didn't get the mod screen. Seems odd that it would have the text and no protection though.

I did a test with no$psx and I noticed that Window/TTY Debug Messages logs some CD cmds. Protected games have the below log when the game does the mod check. I didn't see the cmds with MediEvil II, unless the game doesn't check until the end

.
The old
MODPAR tool does find a mod check code if you scan a save state, but I wonder if it's not active in this version.
EDIT: I tried a end game save for MediEvil II (USA) and it turns out it does have the protection after all. I think it only checks near the end of the game!
