Ok. To be recognized these unnamed protection, I'm coding that reads the filename from external text file.
Btw, It seems CD Media World simply calls these unnamed ring protect "Physical Errors".

Please tell me the disc title, region and barcode if possible.
Title: Colin McRae Rally 04
Region: I guess Italy but I should investigate more, it's labeled "FX Interactive"
Barcode: 8 436010 151135
https://www.webster.it/videogame-colin_ … 151135.htm Found something with the same barcode.

@reentrant
To Compare with my tool, I'm running your tool using proring disc.
Your tool says.
Code: Select all
D:\!redump\reentranttools\CDArchive.exe -x g -d "D:\!redump" -e 52767 73504 10 3 10 fb D:\!redump\reentranttools\test.bin
Extracting error range forward: 52757 - 73514
Read sector: 52757Extracting error range backwards: 52757 - 73514
Read sector: 73514
Extracted all sectors
But no files extracted. What should I do?

"D:\!redump\reentranttools\test.bin" needs to point to the bin file that was dumped before where the ring sector was skipped and replaced with 0x55. CDArchive.exe will try to extract all 0x55 sectors from the CD.

Wow, I forgot about this topic
If you're using version from 23th reply in this thread specify cue path as last argument!

Its version doesn't work for me. I don't know why...
I used the 2nd reply version and confirmed my tool and your tool outputted same hash. Total errors of proring are 755.

Optiarc AD-7170S does not appear to be able to read every sector. When attempting to dump
https://redump.info/disc/43106/, the drive fails to read sectors 2178-2184. So not all Optiarc drives are good for dumping physical ring protection.

Did you use cdarchive to read backwards with enough read retries?

How many read retries are required on average?

You could try with a max of 50 retries. Also be sure first to set the read speed to 4x, by starting a dump at 4x and then retrying cdarchive. If it still wont read so many sectors, I guess you have a wrong model.
