So many updates!

Post by sadikyo »

Hello! We have a number of updates to share, along with some new site features! Please see below for some important changes and updates - we strongly recommend updating any and all the software tools you can to take advantage of these features.

MPF updated to v3.9.0
MPF has been updated with a number of fixes, improvements, and additional new site and tool support. Please checkout the full list of changes and upgrade to the latest version here: https://github.com/SabreTools/MPF/releases
Note: This version includes redumper build 737, which has a number of changes necessary for new site features (detail below).

Redumper updated to build 739
The standalone redumper program has been updated to build 739. If you use redumper and haven't updated in a while, we highly recommend updating now to take advantage of new features and important updates. Among many other features and updates, you may notice that redumper now separates the "dat" items into the main section for redump, and then a dat (extra) section that includes other items that are not to be submitted in the "dat" section of the submission form. This will help resolve some submission errors and hopefully make that process a bit easier.
You can find the latest version here: https://github.com/superg/redumper/releases

Omnidrive updated to 1.0.4
Omnidrive has been updated to v1.0.4, including but not limited to an important fix addressing issues with a select number of dumps. If you have a drive eligible for Omnidrive, we recommend updating to v1.0.4, which can be found here: https://archive.org/download/OmniDrive_v1.0.4
Please note: whether this is your first time flashing to Omnidrive, or you are updating from a previous version, please read and follow the important instructions on our wiki here: https://wiki.redump.info/OmniDrive. You can also reach out via the VGPC Discord for more assistance: https://discord.gg/AHTfxQV

New site feature: Fill from Dump Log
We have implemented a new site feature that uses the dump log to partially fill in some components of the new submission form. When you go to add a disc - paste your redumper dump log into the "Dump Log" field, and then click "Fill from Dump Log." The site will process relevant information from the log and automatically place it into various fields of the submission form, to save time and reduce errors! Please note: not ALL fields can be determined from the log, so please review the entire form after this process, filling in any missing items, or correcting anything that looks out of place. This new feature only works with recent versions of redumper, starting with build 737, so please make sure to update your software as mentioned above, to take advantage of this feature! Since this is a new feature, please let us know if you see anything being transferred incorrectly or to the wrong field. The amount of data transferred will vary by system and media.

Other site updates and improvements

[*] New search filters have been added, including several additional separate ringcode element filters, that you can user to further refine searches and help you get the results you are looking for.
[*] Date and timestamps have been corrected such that sorting by date modified is much more accurate and reliable
[*] A number of tweaks and improvements have been made to the various submission form fields, to minimize errors or require needed elements to avoid sending submissions back and forth

If you still have a feature request or bug report, you can still submit issues to the GitHub page here: https://github.com/superg/vgindex/issues
As always, please review the existing and closed issues to avoid duplicates.

We are still working very hard to improve the site and submission process, and we appreciate your continued patience as we work on things. Thank you very much for all your support, and for your continued contributions to this important project!
